Makes you feel good, even
with a big belly...My arms and legs got a workout, and
I felt stretched, connected and relaxed.
I love this dvd! I was an avid ashtanga yoga practitioner before my first pregnancy, and I have really missed my practice during pregnancy #1 and now pregnancy #2. This is the first prenatal dvd that brings back the great mind and body benefits of yoga for me. I also have the Shiva Rea video (too slow).
Doula, Yoga Instructor, and Mom
Of
all the prenatal yoga videos I've seen, this is the best.
This video doesn't approach pregnancy as a disability,
but as a vital and vibrant stage of life.
I am a yoga instructor, and during my pregnancy I absolutely found this video to be challenging, but the modifications shown made it doable up to my due date (although naturally it became more challenging as my belly expanded). As a doula, I was comforted by the fact that Jennifer Wolfe is also a doula and clearly has extensive knowledge about the pregnant body. I never felt that I needed to be especially cautious of my joints as I have attending regular yoga classes during pregnancy. So many prenatal yoga videos and classes don't offer a challenge for the experienced practitioner; this one is a distinct exception. My favorite part was the modified sun salutation. This is the only video or class I've seen that includes this feature (incuding my own prenatal classes!).
My yoga instructor recommended this video, and I absolutely love it
I've taken
yoga for years, and was put off by the idea of taking a pre-natal yoga class
where I'd be re-learning mountain pose and the like, and barely getting a workout.
My yoga instructor recommended this video, and I absolutely love it (and the "short forms" video
by the same instructor). It's hard enough to make me work, and offers great
variations for different stages of pregnancy. If you're already familiar with
Yoga and are looking to keep your practice going through your pregnancy, this
is the DVD for you!
My body looks just as good as it did before I was pregnant
Wow...where do I begin? This DVD has really helped be prepare not only my
body but my mind for labor. I started the DVD when I was 6.5 mos and am now
8 mos. The video was very challenging and in the beginning I was like how the
hec am I going to get through this?! But I stuck with it and my body looks
just as good as it did before I was pregnant!! My legs are stronger and feel
better equipped to deal with labor and my arms are actually more toned as well!!
Also, the relaxation at the end has helped me with my visual imagery to prepare
for labor...This video has had such an effect on me that I'm even going to
continue it after I have my baby:)This is a must buy...
It's a great workout that will challenge you and make you sweat!!!
This is a great prenatal workout for thoes who have experience in Yoga prior
to pregnancy. After finishing the main workout (about 1hr 15min) I feel like
I've really worked out!! It's great. Besides the instructor, this DVD has someone
in her 2nd trimester and someone in her 3rd trimester, so it's easy to follow
which modifications to a pose depending on your stage of pregnancy. The first
time I tried the DVD I was well into my 2nd trimester. Now 31weeks still able
to complete the workout.....
This DVD is great because you get a real workout
I am so glad I got this DVD. I have several other prenatal yoga DVDs (Shiva
Rea) and Kristen Eykiel (Yoga for your pregnancy). While those videos are good
for when you want a nice relaxed practice, if you are an experienced yogini
they can be too easy. This DVD is great because you get a real workout, it's
like a regular vinyasa class modified for pregnancy.
The instructor is great too.
I find that on the days I do this DVD, I don't have that tightness and achy
feeling and I just feel so good afterwards.
I love this DVD! As a yoga practitioner for over 15 years, I've been looking
for a good challenging yoga DVD to keep me feeling in shape during my pregnancy.
I often find prenatal yoga dvd's to be too slow and easy for my taste. I really
wanted something that would make me feel like I was actually "working
out" and not just stretching and relaxing. There are some great ones out
there that I own for that purpose, but I've been looking for an ashtanga flow
practice that would be tailored to my pregnant body's needs and this is it.
This is my second pregnancy, and I am 5 months along. I'm starting to feel
a lot more aches and pains this time around, especially aching hips and lower
back. I find that on the days I do this DVD, I don't have that tightness and
achy feeling and I just feel so good afterwards. The production value is good,
the routine well designed and easy to understand as she guides you through.
Also, the instructor's voice is really soothing, especially during the relaxation
at the end... I also feel like it will make my delivery easier, as it prepares
my body for the big day, with lots of squats and moves that really feel like
they are strengthening the parts that need it for labor and delivery. This
was a great purchase, and money well spent...I highly recommend it. I also
did Dr.Christine Anderson's Dynamic Prenatal Yoga DVD during my first pregnancy
and I love that one as well, but in my opinion, this one is even better, especially
if you like the flowing sequence of ashtanga. This is a real gem.
If you do yoga, this is the pg video for you
"This is the
first pregancy yoga video I've found that is rigorous enough
to keep me in yoga shape - both body and mind - through
all 3 trimesters. Even my non-pregnant sister found it
challenging enough to do it with me. It is long, but you
can stop whenever you want, of course. I love the instructor
and her routine here so much, that I'm hoping to find other
'regular' yoga videos from her for post-pregnancy. Very
peaceful and flowing, without being patronizing or annoying.
If you haven't done yoga before, this will be a tough introduction, but if you pay close attention to her breathing instructions and watch it once through, and are relatively fit, I think it would be good for you too."
Amazing prenatal workout
"This dvd is truly incredible.
I started it in my third week of pregnancy and was hooked!
It was the only prenatal dvd that I stuck with because
not only did I feel restored and more centered after the
workout (yes, it's long but very well paced), but I noticed
that my body became very tone and flexible and...dare I
say it, even LOOKED better as time went on. My legs and
buttocks were more toned than they have ever been -not
something I expected to see during pregnancy!
I have had some dance training as well as a brief background
in Pilates, so I went into this in pretty good shape.
You need to have a fairly good awareness of body alignment
to get the most of this dvd. It's challenging, but not
to the point where you will wear yourself out. And I
would like to add, I gave birth two weeks ago, went through
a very traumatic dry delivery, and as a 41 year-old first
time mom, I'm amazed at how quickly my body recovered.
If I could give this dvd more stars I would. Cannot recommend
it highly enough!"
Although yoga is a safe form of exercise for pregnant women, every woman's
body is different and requires attention and awareness during any exercise
to ensure the body's well being. Please obtain permission from your doctor,
midwife or health provider before doing any prenatal exercise and most important,
listen to your body.
